Christmas 2012

It's crazy to think that this will be the last Christmas with just the two of us (& Reggie!). We decided a few months ago to not go crazy on each other this year.

We had a great Christmas regardless of presents...but I must husband is the most thoughtful gift giver I know.

Hallmark makes a series of books about a bear named Cooper. How perfect is that?!

This present took my breath away...Jon got me a handheld video camera for when Cooper is here! How amazing is that?

If you don't watch One Tree Hill, this quote means nothing to you. If you watch One Tree Hill, you'll recognize this as the quote from Karen's Cafe. How in the world Jon even came up with this idea I have no idea but I started tearing up when I opened it. I can't wait to buy a frame and get it hung up in the house.

Me and Cooper with his book :)

Stocking Stuffer CDs :)

(Sidenote: There aren't any pictures of Reggie aside from the last one because he was sick for a few days. But with some lovins from Mama he felt better...and he seems to be doing much better now! He's playing with his Christmas toys as we speak actually.)

Cooper's Bag

I'm a notorious over packer..and ya know what..I'm okay with that. I'd rather be over prepared than thinking, "Oh crap..I should have brought that!"

I thought packing for Cooper would be easy...I was wrong. First I couldn't decide what to pack. Then I couldn't decide what size to pack. Finally I just said forget it and put it all in the bag.

Without further ado, here's what little man is going to have in his bag:

1. Burp Cloths
2. Bibs
3. Hats
4. Three newborn size outfits
5. Socks
6. Three 0-3 month outfits
7. "Care" kit with nail clippers and what not (I know they supply these at the hospital but I'm partial to what I bought.)
8. Mittens
9. Newborn and 0-3 month pants
10. Two types of plugs (Yes I call them plugs.)
11. Receiving Blankets

These things are packed in the diaper bag. I didn't bring any diapers, wipes, or bottles. As I mentioned before, I'm planning on breastfeeding hence the bottles. And I know the hospital has diapers and wipes.

Next up will be my bag!

Blizzard 2012

Everyone who wanted a White Christmas got their wish....a day late!

They started talking about this storm a week or so ago. But we were only supposed to get 2 inches. It was that way all the way up until Christmas Day. Jon and I were at my parents eating lunch and exchanging presents..all of a sudden our phones and my parents phones started going off with an alarm. We were in a blizzard warning until 7PM on Wednesday night...wait...WHAT?!

We stayed at my parents a little longer, than decided after talking to Jon's family to not make the drive to their homes for Christmas because we would be driving right into the storm. No thank you...luckily, they understood.

The storm was supposed to start at 9:00...we were still only supposed to get 3-5 inches so I wasn't too concerned.

9:00 came and went with nothing....

Finally we just went to bed.

When we woke up yesterday morning there was about 2 inches of snow on the ground.

By 10:30 we had 4 1/2 inches...

Then 5 1/2...

We ended up with almost 8 inches!

I put together this little collage of pictures I took on my phone.

My favorite is the one where Reg is watching Jon shovel snow. hahaha

P.S. Reggie is a winter dog-he LOVES snow!! He jumps into it face first and loves life the whole time he's outside!

33 Weeks!

According to the Bump...little man is the size of a Durian fruit this week. What the heck is a Durian fruit? Yeah...I don't know but it looks like this:

Let's just call a spade a spade...that thing up there does not look like anything I wanna be popping's SPIKEY. My child is way cuter than that! ;)

Not a whole lot to report this week:

-Cooper had his first Christmas (inside his mama!) and was spoiled rotten! (More on that later!)
-Lots of movement still...which I love and can't get enough of..though it does look like an alien is taking over my belly sometimes!
-All that's left to do is install the carseat and unpack a few more things in the nursery and we'll be ready for little man's arrival!
-My next appointment is next week! I love those appointments really. Could be because I have the best doctor ever. :)

7 more weeks little man!! 4 more weeks until you're full term!!! Eeekkk!!!

(P.S. Go visit Courtney, one of my new favorite bloggers. Her and her husband, Eric just welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Mia!)

Getting the House Baby Ready

All of Cooper's clothes are washed.

His room is ready (still waiting on a lamp shade though...).

But I never stopped to think about what else we needed to make room for besides his room.

First up we have the bathroom. We have one small linen closet in our bathroom that it usually pretty full as it is. I purged almost an entire shelf to make room for Cooper's things (I don't even want to tell you how much Bath & Body Works stuff I threw was bad..I have a problem.). Then I bought totes-two small ones and I had one big canvas one that someone gave me as part of my shower gift.

One small tote holds all of his bath boys (most rubber duckies). The big yellow duck w/the blue circle is my most favorite. You put the duck in the water and it tells you if the water is too hot for the baby. Amazing!

The other small tote has all the baby washes in it.

The big canvas tote has all of his hooded towels and washcloths in it. And we have PLENTY!

The other place we made room was in the kitchen. Once again-a lot of purging and rearranging took place in here too! I cleared off the bottom shelf for Cooper's things. There are not a whole lot of bottles because I plan on breast feeding...but I do have a few because he'll (hopefully) be taking the bottle every so often.

Now we just have to get a little diaper changing station set up in the living room (i.e. a basket with some essentials) and we'll be good to go!

32 Weeks!

You. Guys. 32 weeks!!!

Little man and I are cookin' right along!!
-He's the size of a squash...though aren't there different types of squashes? *shrug*
-His car seat and stroller are built!
-We had another doctor's appointment and all went well!
-And we had another ultrasound!!!

He's most definitely sucking his thumb!! Ahh I just love him!! They estimate him to be right around 4 lbs!

Keep growing, baby boy!! Just a little longer!!

Start of the Holiday season and prepping for the New Year

This past weekend we went on a double date with two of our friends. We hit up this amazing pizza place in Broad Ripple called Some Guys. OMG. I'm not even going to tell you how much pizza I ate. It's embarrassing.

Shocker of the world, before we left I had to use the restroom. I was a little surprised/shocked/never going to let Cooper near this thing that they call a changing table. Why yes, it is falling off the wall..but hey don't worry 'bout's chained at the top!

After dinner we went back to our friends' house and made gingerbread houses. Jon and I make one every year. Last year we found out that you can buy them already built and you just have to decorate them.

Yeah. I know.

So we cheated again this year.

This might be the best one we've ever done..though that's not saying much!

I also went to Walgreens this weekend to look for stocking stuffers for Jon. (Like his stocking isn't full enough...)

I walked out with no stocking stuffers for him..but I did find things for me!

For $5 I got these guys:

Weekly Menu pad..LOVE IT!

It also came with this pre-made grocery list! Definitely a fan!

I also got a new planner that matches this design too. I'm in LOVE with it! I'll keep up my organizing streak for sure!

Ornament Swap!

One of my most favorite bloggers (and future mama-to-be!) Megan hosted an Ornament Swap for the second year in a row! I had a lot of fun doing it last year and was excited to join in again this year!

I totally lucked out in the pairings because Brianna is amazing!! Come on..the girl loves Luke Bryan and football. Could I have been paired with a better person? I think not!

Look at these two ornaments! Aren't they just adorable?? And the candy will be gone in a matter of days I tell you! :)

Thanks again, Brianna!!

31 weeks!!

We're down to SINGLE DIGIT weeks, people!!

Again I say..holy crap on a cracker!!

I feel like little man went through a bit of a growth spurt again..that or he felt the need to push himself out a little more this week. Either way I look bigger! :)

The highlights:

-Jon is putting together the car seat and stroller this weekend. Oh and the pack and play..those are the last things to put together before he gets here.
-According to the Bump, Cooper is the size of a pineapple now..weighing in at around 3.5 lbs (We have an ultrasound coming up..we'll see what they say..) and almost the length he will be at he'll just be packing on the pounds..pack them on, little man!
-His movements are getting stronger and stronger every day. But now instead of having a lot of kicks and pokes...he shifts...a lot. It's not uncommon for my belly to be lopsided. Not comfortable, but cool looking, if you ask me!
-We have an ultrasound on MONDAY!!! I'm so excited to see our adorable little man again! And I can't wait for more pictures of him to show off to the world! :)

Not to much to report this week, but ya know what, I think I'll take that as a good thing! :)

Keep growing, Cooper!! You're doing so well!! Mama and Daddy love you soooo much already!!

Freezer Meals

This weekend I made a few things to freeze for when Cooper gets here.

I'm not planning on making a bunch of meals because 1) We don't have the freezer space and 2) Most of the meals we make are pretty quick and easy so I feel like we can make do on just having a few meals ready.

The first thing I made was the start of cheeseburger meatloaf. I'm honestly not sure where I got this recipe from...back in high school, I took a cooking class and I have a box of recipes from that class...this is one of the recipes.

The preparation for this meal was super easy.

I mixed 1 lb of hamburger and 10 saltine crackers (crushed) and put in an aluminum loaf pan.

I made a cover for the pan with the name of what is inside and the cooking directions.

You'll see on the lid it said "Add cheese/ketchup". There really is no set amount for either ingredient. I use enough ketchup to cover the top of the meatloaf and I put shredded cheese on top and bake for another 10 minutes. Super super easy and pretty much any side item works with this meal.

The next thing I did was bought a couple packages of chicken and grilled them on our Foreman. I separated them into portions.

I use shredded chicken a lot. I use it in macaroni and cheese for a more substantial meal. I mix it with cream cheese and shredded cheese and put that mixture in crescent rolls. You name it. This is a huge staple in our house, so I figured, why not go ahead and make enough for four meals. It took all of fifteen minutes to grill and shred the chicken and put them into baggies.

As far as what's up next I don't plan on freezing more meals, but I do, however, plan on making sure we have meals that are easy to throw together, such as hamburger patties, meatballs for spaghetti, steaks that can be thrown on the Foreman, and easy side items-such as biscuits, mac and cheese, and potatoes. You can throw together twice baked potatoes pretty quickly. For that reason, I'm considering possibly freezing mashed potatoes. Jon is pretty particular about mashed potatoes, so I'm not sure he'll go for frozen ones. But we'll see.

I know some people make a bunch of freezer meals but I just don't see that being that beneficial for us.

I'm keeping this post pretty short and sweet but it's been a crazy week already and it's only Tuesday. I have a pitch in with the girls at work tomorrow night that I still need to make cookies to bring. :)

Stay tuned for the 31 (WHAT?!) week bump update tomorrow!!
