Organization

I've had a few people ask about the "To Do List" feature in my bio. I figured I would just make an entry here as to how I've managed to make this wedding organized so Jon and I know what's going on.
When we first got engaged, I had several wedding planning books, but I found that most of the stuff in them we wouldn't use. So I decided to just make my own binder and that's been the best decision.
In the front pocket I have my list of stuff to do/buy/send/make. It's basically just a master list. No dates or anything. Just a cut and dry list. I also have a list I printed off the Internet with a countdown to the wedding. (i.e. 12 months have this done). I also have copies of our ceremony music so I can give it to our pianist.
The actual binder is divided by tabs into the following sections:

*Budget (Copy of my excel spreadsheet budget sheet with projected, actual, deposits, and balances due)
*Guest List (Copy of my excel sheet with names, addresses, phone numbers, save the dates sent, invitations sent, number attending, thank you card sent)
*Attire & Beauty (Info for BM dresses & GM attire, pictures of make up and hair ideas, list of appointments)
*Ceremony (List of ceremony readings, sheets to take notes during meetings with priests)
*Flowers (Pictures of flowers, list of who gets corsages & bouts)
*Reception (List of what goes on what tables, floor plan I made for the reception hall)
*Food/Cake (Copy of menu, cake ideas)
*Music (List of music chosen for both ceremony and reception)
*Photography (List of photos we want)
*Stationary
*Favors & Gifts (List of what we want to get the BP and list of websites to get candy)
*Transportation (List of what the limo includes)
*Honeymoon (Information gathered by Jon for the honeymoon)
*Contacts & Contracts (Master list of everyone we are working with, copies of each contract)
*Hotel Accom. (Sheets describing what each hotel accom. includes)
*Misc. (DIY instructions, monthly calendar with what needs to be done)
Also, each divider has a list of things that need to be done for that particular area. (i.e. Ceremony: Meet with priests 4-5 times, Decide on specifics of Ceremony)
I must say, being so organized about this makes wedding planning SO much easier!
AAAAND: I signed onto The Knot today..and saw the countdown was 210 days. When I first signed us up for the Knot...we had 700+ days til the wedding!
Countdown: 6 months, 29 days!

Invitation Inserts

A few weeks ago, I sat down and cut all of the paper for our invitations. It feels so great to have this done!
My next obstacle is to try to make the maps on the directions & reception cards not look so blurry. Wish me luck!

Another check!

I hope everyone had a great holiday!! We had a great Christmas!! Jon loved his Chipper Jones baseball and I about hit the floor when I opened my guitar signed by Luke Bryan! :) I also got two books I've been wanting to read: The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks and Multiple Blessings by Jon & Kate Gosselin (from Jon and Kate Plus 8).

Today, we ordered our wedding bands! We bought both of them from the jewelry store that Jon bought my engagement ring from. Since my engagement ring is so unique I wanted a simple band. I didn't want anything to take away from my gorgeous engagement ring. Jon went with a titanium band--very simple, as well. He wanted something basic. We ordered them and unless we're notified otherwise--we should have them on Wednesday or Friday!! YAYYYY!!!

Hair Stylist--CHECK!

I went to get a hair trim today and asked if I could go ahead and book for the wedding day. Wellll...small crisis...she had already agreed to do 3 girls' hair for another wedding. Luckily, she was able to move things around. And we have 3 girls that are going to be working to get our hair done! We start at 10:30! It's hard to believe that it's starting to become time to actually set up times for everything! I'm waiting to hear back from the limo company to see if they will pick us up at the hotel! Fingers crossed!! Then we're going to be at the church at 2:00 for pictures! Eee!! I think we'll have the guys get there at 2:30! :)

BM Dresses--CHECK!

The last girl to order her dress ordered hers today!! Yayyyy!! :) It feels so great to get this done! So much less stressful!! YAYYY!!!

Also, the Save-the-Dates are addressed--just waiting on a few more straggling addresses to come in!!

Countdown: 7 months, 9 days

A little bit of an update

Where to start?

Only one more girl to go to get their dresses ordered. (I may have put that in the last post, but I can't remember.)

We have some gifts figured out:

BMs: Tote bags filled with: jewelry and shoes for the day of, a small make up bag filled with goodies

FG: Mini tote bag filled with: jewelry and shoes, a Build-a-Bear

RB: A gift card (My sister says, "He thinks gifts cards are the greatest things!"), a few other TBD items

GM: To Be Determined

So far I have the bags for the girls, jewelry, and make up bags..getting there! lol

Also...slight change in music:

Unity Candle Song: Feels Like Home-Chantal Kreviazuk

Father/Daughter Dance: Stealing Cinderella-Chuck Wicks (Cuz I'm my dad's "princess") :)

Each set of parents: A 5 x 7 picture frame engraved with our name and date for a wedding picture, a gift certificate to a local restaurant

My sister (She's my right hand man..she basically helps with everything): To Be Determined

Officiants: Not sure yet, maybe a gift certificate to a restaurant, along with a donation of course

Countdown: 7 months, 14 days!

It's official...

It hit me today...the "I'm actually going to be a bride!" moment hit me. I really don't know what is causing it to occur on this particular day. It could be because Jon is graduating next Saturday. Or that I only have 1 girl left to get her dress. Or that my girls are already requesting vacation days for the rehearsal day. Whatever it is...I like this feeling!

In the same breath, I can also say that I feel myself getting stressed out easier now. I have to take a step back and try to rationalize things. I just get really worked up. I think it's because 7.5 months seems so far away..but soon it's going to be Christmas, then New Year's, then our anniversary, then Jon's birthday, then Valentine's Day, then my birthday. Then...February will only have a week left! That means that we will be at 5 months. WOW...yep, that hit me just as I typed that!! :-0!! Time flies!!

Countdown: 7 months, 15 days!

Checks!

We booked the ceremony musician! A small change of plans though. Instead of having 5 prelude songs, she suggested we only have 3. So we went for Only Hope, Bless the Broken Road, and This Year's Love. :)

We booked our hotel room for our wedding night! It's actually the same suite that I'll be staying in with the girls the night before.

I started addressing the Save-the-Dates yesterday. It starts becoming really real when you do that!

And finally, I made our Thank You Cards:

The outside

The inside with a blank 3" x 5" card for writing

The back of the envelope :) The ink is actually blue, not teal.

Update: Tuxes

I never put more than one blog entry up in a day, but I forgot to update on this part:

Jon and I went to the tux place last weekend and we changed it up a little bit. The groomsmen and Jon's tuxes are still the same, but the dads' tuxes are different.

The tux style is a basic classic notch style. All of the tuxes will have the same white shirts and black shoes with them, as well as Windsor style ties.

Jean Yves Onyx Royal Blue for Jon and the GM

Jean Yves Onyx Black for the dads'

Ceremony Music Finalized

BM Jewelry...CHECK!

I picked these up when I went with one of my girls to get her BM dress ordered. I think they are simple and perfect! They are pretty enough to stand out, but not to overpower the dress. I think they will make the color of the dress really pop too!!
Also...3 girls have ordered their dresses now! My neice's dress is actually in already! Only 2 more girls to go! Yay!
Oh and...8 months to go, as of today! Yayy!!

Hotel Blocks && Bridal Suite...CHECK!

Mom & I went and got 2 sets of hotel blocks done today. One at the Holiday Inn and the other at the Hampton Inn.

Holiday Inn was pretty quick and straight and to the point. No tour (not a big deal..I've been there quite a few times.), no real anything. Just a piece of paper with the number of rooms blocked and the last day to block them.

Then we went to the Hampton Inn. Which is actually brand new in my town. We got a tour of this..AMAZING hotel! And they showed us one of each type of room they had. We walked into this large room that had 3 rooms with it, including the bathroom. I walked in it and immediately got all excited. The lady said,"This room sleeps 6 people. It could be used as a bridal room." I looked at my mom who was already looking at me and she goes,"Sold. Let's do it." So yay! I have a room now for me and my girls to stay the night before and get ready! :) We also looked at one of their small banquet rooms and liked it for the rehearsal dinner! :)

So much done! I'm so excited!

Jon and I are going to the mall tomorrow and there is a tuxedo shop there. We're going to look at tuxedos tomorrow! SO EXCITED!!

November To Do List

-Finish pocketfolds
-Cut belly bands
-Block hotel rooms
-Finish pre-marital questionaire

Not too bad. As of now, only 45 more pocketfolds need to be cut out of 115 so I think I'm doing ok. lol The belly bands shouldn't take too long. The hotel blocks shouldn't take more than a few hours. And the pre-marital questionaire can be done in a few hours as well. Which is nice considering the holidays are fast approaching!

Countdown: 8 months, 22 days

Guy's Attire

I did these using S & K's Build a Tux feature.
This would be for Jon and the GM. Our ring bearer will wear one as well.
And this would be for the dads.
I made these the other night. Jon likes them, but we're obviously going to go to S & K and see if we like the vests when we actually see them. But I called today to see if I can get a price. Oh, I got a price. $120 for each. Jon's is free. The others--20% off. Making them a whopping $100. And this price includes everything--jacket, pants, shirt, vest, tie, shoes. The whole shebang. Uh, yes, please!

Ceremony Reading!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

(9) Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work;
(10)If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
(11)Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
(12) Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

I love it. FI and I got it from the list our pastors gave us.

Love it!!

First Meeting with Pastors: check!

We had our meeting this weekend and it went GREAT! It was basically an introductory meeting. We went over the typical ceremony timeline and discussed the wedding rehearsal. We also were given examples of wedding programs so that we could get a feel for how things will go. Then, we were given a list of scripture readings to read through and see if we liked them. Obviously, if we don't like any of them, or we want a different reading, we're more than welcome to do so, but it gave us a start for sure! And finally we were given an "inventory" it's called. Basically it's a booklet with 115-ish questions regarding various marital subjects (i.e. money spending, children, communication, arguements, etc).

Before our next meeting (which is T.B.D.) we will need to give them the surveys so that they can look through them. Then at our next meeting, we'll go through what they call "red or yellow flags". We'll also talk more about our music selections.

It's crazy to think that things are actually becoming concrete. It seemed like forever until we were going to have to start meeting with our pastors. And here we are!

Crazy!

Wedding dress--check!!

I went dress shopping with my mom, my MOH, and one of my BMs last night. I picked out 5 dresses to try on. The first one I put on, I fell in love with. It gave me goosebumps and I didn't want to take it off. I KNEW I found the dress. But, I decided to go ahead and try on the other 4. I mean, what was it going to hurt? I had actually went to David's Bridal before to try on dresses and I found one I liked a lot. It was the 3rd dress I tried on. I loved it, but I just didn't get the feeling I got with the first one.

So, I came out with a dress, the bra, and the slip.

Best part you ask? Oh, the dress is a size 0 petite. It fits perfectly. It's a little lose in the stomach/chest region, but not loose enough where you can see it. However, it is loose enough that if I gained a few pounds it wouldn't be bad news or anything.

Sooo yay!!

I love getting mail!

Yesterday in the mail, I received our Save the Date cards and our photo sharing cards!! I'm soooo excited!! I wasn't sure what, if anything, I wanted to put on the back of the postcards, so I left room for me to write whatever we wanted...I felt like it made it a little more personal that way. And the photo sharing cards look really awesome! I'll put pictures of them up just as soon as I can..along with pictures of my super cute wedding "cutesies" as I call them! lol

And Monday, I'm going dress shopping with my mom, my MOH, and one of my BM's! I'm sooo excited! Hopefully I'll come back on Monday with a dress ordered!! *fingers crossed*

Limo, Gifts, etc etc

We booked the limo last week!

And we hit our first DIY snag. I was printing our STDs out to test them out printing double sided. And I realized that..uh oh...you could see RIGHT THROUGH THE PAPER.

So, in desperation, I ordered them off of VistaPrint and will be getting them in about 2 weeks. Woo!

I bought a few items for my girls' presents over the weekend. I bought their bags (just simple canvas bags I'm dressing up) and a really cute picture frame for each girl. I'm also looking for a really simple small make up bag I can fill with goodies. And rhinestone letters to iron onto each make up bag. Fingers crossed!

The bubbles are all finished and put away! Which is a HUGE thing. We've also messed with the invitation wording a little bit and made the actual invitation not seem so bare.

Our next few goals include:
*Finalize music must play/do not play lists.
*Finalizing a guest list.
*Meeting with the pastors next month.

Busy little bee

So, aside from wedding planning, life all in all is crazy busy right now. Just today alone I managed to update all my stuff online (laugh, but it takes like 2 hours lol). Also, I called a limo company (and will probably be booking them very soon). I called 2 hotels to talk about blocking off hotel rooms. I also emailed our pastor and the reception hall guy with questions. I worked on the music for the reception, stopped by the church and picked up a packet of information. And I made a list of photos for our photographer to take. Aaaand I put the monogram stickers on the bubbles. All 276 bubbles! lol Now I just have to tie the ribbons around it. The DJ is officially booked and with that, all the vendors are booked. Except for the limo. Which, to be honest, we weren't even sure we were going to do. But the price is just too good and it will be so convenient.

It hit me today though...I was filling out some of the DJ paperwork and it said,"Introducing the new bride and groom" and we had to write out our names. It was the first time I actually wrote Jon & Kari *new last name*. It was such a great, amazing feeling. It just really hit me!

Almost 11 months to the day...

Pictures that were promised!

The baskets were the easiest things I've done thus far!

Bubbles

Programs

Restrooms

Saying close up
Today I'm gonna call some limo companies and get prices. And call hotels to inquire about hotel blocks. And try to work on music, photo list, etc etc. lol I'm gonna TRY to work on the bubbles tonight, too. Hopefully I can put the labels on tonight, but we'll see. It's all starting to come together!

Reception Menu

I got a phone call from our caterer today with a set price. I love them, P.S. :) And we finalized a menu.

Fried Chicken (They have the best fried chicken known to man!)
Mashed potatoes
Macaroni and cheese

Rolls & Butter
7 Layer Salad

Small, simple, perfect.

We're going to supply snack-type foods for people to munch on while we're taking pictures, etc. Jon & I both can't deal with sitting at a reception starving with nothing to eat except the favor candy. So we're not having that happen at our wedding. :)

I'm off to finish updating everything, then going to make pocketfolds!

Honeymoon, Baskets

Change of honeymoon destination for us: Gatlinburg, TN is the number 1 contender as of now. We would both love to go to Disney World, but Jon won't know where he will be working, or if he can get time off, until atleast January. Disney books so fast--so we decided to go somewhere a little closer. We've been looking at cabins for awhile now, and we've found a few beautiful ones that we like.

I finished the baskets for the programs, bubbles, and restrooms. I think this was another super easy project! I finshed all four baskets in about 30 minutes. I'll post pictures very soon!

Checks and DIY Projects

I met with the travel agent this morning to talk about HM options. They gave us a ton of books/brochures to look at...and made me feel really good about using them for our HM reservations.

On the way home, I figured, what they hey, I'll call the caterer and see if I can come in to talk to them about catering the wedding--though I had heard they wouldn't let us book until 6 months ahead of time. Well...I went in and talked to the lady for about 15 minutes--and booked them! Which means after I send in the check for the DJ this weekend--all of our vendors are booked!

And, I worked on some DIY projects last night and today. I made 10 pocketfolds last night. And today I worked on the unity candle. I was unwrapping the last pillar candle, smacked it against my desk, and broke it. lol Oops! I'll buy a new one today, though. Anyways..here's what I have so far:

And pictures of the garter my mom and I made! It also works as my something blue!

Keep in mind, we haven't went over many of these together. These are just songs I like. I want to of course, see what Jon likes too! But still, it feels great to get this a little more concrete.

As for our wedding, we have a few purchases we're making within the next week:
*Cups
*Extra napkins
*My cutesy day of attire *wink wink* from Customizedgirl :) :)

I think our next big scavenger hunt will be for a wedding arch. Followed by really cute clear plates for the reception. Aside from that...I start DIY'ing stuff in 2 weeks. Yayy!!

Save the Date Preliminary Design

Today I decided to try and design a Save the Date for us. We're doing postcards. We're hand delivering most of them, but mailing them to OTT guests of course. I really like this design..I wouldn't be surprised if this is the one that we choose to go with. I love that it is simple and yet really cute.

New Buys, Flowers Update, and Wedding Nightmares

The past few weeks we've managed to make some great purchases related to the wedding. Since we are DIY'ing a lot of things and adding personalized details to a lot of things, the buying part is easy...the rest will take more time. Here is a list thus far of things we've bought lately:

*Cake Topper
*Beads and wire (for BP flutes)
*Confetti
*Candles for Unity Candle
*Unity Candle Holder

We've ordered blue paper for the pocketfold invitations as well. The paper was on sale at Hobby Lobby, but they didn't have enough paper for us. So they ordered us some and they should be in on Friday. *fingers crossed* We're also on the look out for an arch. Wal-Mart has an empty space for one that is $24.95 and we're just waiting for them to put them out.

Also, Mom and I have decided to DIY our pew bows. That's right. Another DIY project to add to the list. We're going to use pale yellow ribbon and put a mini coral gerbera daisy. Or we may flip and use blue ribbon and a pale yellow gerbera daisy. Nothing is finalized on that yet.

I checked Etsy today and found pictures of our BM bouquets. They are absolutely amazing! I'm just so excited to actually get them! Flowers are such a huge thing and I'm so fortunate that I'm getting this done early, and so far, they are beyond anything I could have imagined.

A year and 3 weeks til the wedding and I had my first wedding nightmare. Basically it boils down to the flowers weren't sent to the reception hall properly. (Why were they even supposed to go to the reception hall?!) When we arrived at the reception, we didn't know anyone there. When I tried to get to my phone to call my friends to see what was going on, none of my friends names were in my phone. There was no DJ. No food. AWESOME. Let's hope since I'm having them so early, that means they will get out of my system sooner. *fingers crossed*

Pictures thus far! Including Invitation Mock up 1!

Ashley, I finally got pictures of my mock up invitation! It's very much in its baby stage. But, I wanted to make sure that the dimensions I figured up were accurate and they are! The reception and directions inserts are just on computer paper I cut down to size cuz I was messing with resizing it. But I think they are going to look great! And, I mean, we can use the envelopes that come in the invitation kit and everything!

Voilia! We are making a pale yellow belly band for all of them. As well as a monogram sticker:

We've also managed to buy:

*Toasting flutes for us:

* Small blue plates
*Blue lunch napkins
Both from Wal-Mart..for $6!
*Small coral plates
*Coral lunch napkins

Both will be for the cake! So glad there are a few more things we can check off! Now, if only we can find a ton of pale yellow thick ribbon for our belly bands. Hm...
One year ago today, I officially became engaged to my soulmate! :)

Ok, update!

-Flowers are paid for. Anxiously awaiting for the first pictures! So excited!
-Deposit is paid for. Waiting for the confirmation email package.
-Change of church plans. We just couldn't deal with the idea of having our wedding at 1:30 in the afternoon AT THE LATEST. So, we found a gorgeous church. I teared up when I saw it. Called and talked to the preacher. Ended up talking to him for probably 25 minutes on Monday. And here I am! New member of the church and everything! Woo!

Oh and...it's JULY!! That's right! We get married in a year and 3 weeks! Goodness!!

Also, I stopped by the Dollar Tree to pick up a few more mirrors for our centerpieces and found bubbles 12 for $1!!

Reception hall: Check.
Bubbles: Check.

We're well on our way!

Invitations- Round One

The clearance aisle at Wal-Mart is like my new best friend. Jon and I walked by there the other day and found invitations for $5 for 50 of them. However, I want to do the pocketfold invitations. So, I found a way around it and an easy way to do both. I made a mock-up of my invitations, but the set of invitations wouldn't fit the pocketfold. So, I added an inch to the side and 1 1/2" to the bottom and voilia! They will fit! So, yay!!

Invitations---semi check. :)

Flowers Update

So, I have the flower situation figured out..thankfully!

I received a message back from a girl off of Etsy and she is doing our flowers for us...for a super great deal!

Here is what we decided:
Bride Bouquet: Pale yellow gerberas and roses with 4 white roses for my grandparents
Toss Bouquet: Same as bride bouquet but w/out white roses
BM Bouquets: Gerberas
Bouts: 2 roses/1 gerbera and 1 rose for groom, 1 rose for everyone else
Corsages: 1 gerbera and 2 roses
Green berry fillers

I'm so excited! I pay for them next week, and I should get them sometime in July so I'll be sure to post pictures and everything when I get them in!!

Flowers---check.

Gerberas & Roses

I've spent the night typing away and search engining my little heart out trying to find silk flowers that will work for us. I'm to the point where if I don't find anything within the next few months, I'm probably going to DIY the flowers...which I DON'T want to do. Basically what we're looking for is a mixture of roses and gerbera daisies. Pale yellow. And we need the following:
Bride bouquet
Toss bouquet
5 BM bouquets
Groom Bout
11 Bouts (For GM, Ushers, Fathers, etc)
7 Corsages
1 Ring Bearer Bout

I'd like for my bouquet to be both types of flowers, the BM to be gerbera daisies. Jon's bout to be either 1 gerbera daisy or 2 roses. The other bouts to be 1 rose. The corsages to be 1 daisy and 2 roses. Another thing that I'm having a hard time finding is that I don't want the bouquets to be in a bouquet holder, but rather I would like for them to be held by the stems so we can wrap pretty pale yellow ribbon around them. :)

I messaged two different people asking how much they would charge for this. One girl I'm very hopeful about. I found her on Etsy. If her price is what I think it is, I'll be buying the flowers within the next few weeks. NO JOKE..it's that good of a deal. Keep your fingers crossed for me. And look for updates!

Favor Boxes--check!

So, normally you wait to get the favor boxes I know this, but Mom and I found the deal of the day today! We were walking through the clearance aisle at Wal-Mart and we found favor kits with 50 favor boxes for $2! Score! They are normally $19 for 50 of them...sooo we bought enough for 350, even though we only have 240-some on our list right now. They are plain white boxes and they come with teal and brown stickers that you put on the front. But, we're just going to make our own embellishments for them. Either way--we spent $14 on 350 favor boxes...I'd say we got one hell of a deal! Woo!

The Countdown is Getting Shorter

It seems like we just got engaged..however, it's been almost a year..and we've almost hit the one year mark to the wedding. Although a year is a long time, and most people plan their wedding in less than a year, I still feel like there is SOOO much to do in such little time. We have lots of DIY projects and lots of stuff we need to get done before January, even. January marks 6 months until the wedding..that's when the crazyness REALLY starts.

With that being said, me being the insane organizer that I am, made a list of "Weekly To Do Lists" for us so we can better manage everything that needs to be done. I have it saved on my computer desktop, as well as in my wedding planner. :)

Here's what lies ahead in the next month or so:
July 1st-Pay deposit on reception hall and turn in contract.
August 4th-Pay deposit for DJ. (We're waiting to do this until after our friends Mark & Sam get married because they are using the same DJ we are considering and we want to make sure we like him before we put the deposit down.)
September 6th-Finalize guest list. (That will be fun!)
September 20th-Call florists to discuss options. (I'm still debating between silk and real flowers. I really want gerbera daisies and mix in some roses. Gerbera daisies are known to wilt really quickly..because of that, I'm thinking we might go with silk flowers.)

That covers the next few months or so. But there are also lots of DIY Projects to be done:

-Unity Candle
-Bathroom baskets
-Save the Dates
-Invitations (That should encompass an entire 3 months of work!)
-Photo frame card box
-Programs
-Thank You Cards
-Add details to flutes for WP
-Mr. & Mrs. Signs for chairs
-Monogram stickers (for pocketfolds and favor boxes)
-Rehearsal Dinner invitations
-Photo slideshow for Cocktail hour or dinner

Then there's all the fun stuff that we haven't even really touched on:
-Music, music, music, music times 100
-Gifts for everyone
-Readings
-Groomsmen Attire
-Favors (We're thinking Jelly Bellys)
-Decorations for the Head Table
-Food for the cocktail hour

We do have a few ideas in regards to decorating though:
-Since the cocktail hour will be about an hour long, we are thinking that if we can, get a table set up with a ton of picture frames to give people things to look at while they are waiting for us. I'm very adament about Jon not seeing me before the wedding, so therefore we will have to do a bulk of pictures after the wedding...hence the cocktail hour. :)
-We have "I DO" letters for the cake table. They are painted and ready to go, actually. Total cost: $5. Confetti will go on the cake table, as well as decorative marbles.
-Half the tables centerpiece items bought. (Picture in bio)
-Ideas for the other half (tall vase with candle and two small voltives on each side, surrounded by petals and decorative marbles.)
-I really really want to put initials on the guest book table, but I'm not sure they will stay up...so maybe we can put the initials on the head table?
-I really like the idea of having a basket for the favors as opposed to putting them at each table setting, but I may easily change my mind. We still have four wedding as of now to attend before our wedding..so we can see what we like and what we don't like.

There is just so so much to do! But I'm so excited to actually start doing it! However, I think my parents may have to splurge on a 3 bedroom townhouse. A bedroom for them, one for me, and one for Wedding Central. Maybe I'll bring that up! lol

Countdown: Too damn long :) a/k/a 1 year, 1 month, 2 weeks, and 6 days..ish

Bio

Instead of messing with putting alll the pictures on the blogger, I thought I'd just put up my bio that I made:

First Post!

After many deliberations, I've decided to blog my experience of the next 14 months of my life. I didn't want to add it to my existing blog because I wanted this one to be special. So I hope you all enjoy reading about our wedding experiences! We're already so excited!!

I suppose I should give you a backstory:

Jon & I met in 7th grade when we sat next to each other in English class. We remained friends throughout high school and dated for a short period of time during our senior year. We managed to get back our friendship after the break up and continued to talk and hang out. We started dating again on January 25, 2006 and we've been together ever since!

We got engaged on July 3, 2007 at my apartment up at school. While I was making dinner Jon asked if we could talk after dinner. I asked why we couldn't talk at that time. He said it was because he wanted to wait until after dinner. So after dinner, I finished up the dishes and walked back to my bedroom where Jon had moved my computer chair out so the middle of the room was empty. He asked if I was happy with us. I said, "Yes of course. Aren't you?" He said,"I am, I just want things to change." I started freaking out thinking he was going to break up with me. He tried to take my hand and I moved it so he couldn't. He said,"You've been my girlfriend for a year and a half and I don't want you to just be my girlfriend anymore." I kinda started to get it, but I wasn't sure. He then asked if I knew what he was saying. I said no. He said,"I'm saying... (he stood up, then stood me up) that you're my everything and I love you more than anything in the world. Kari, will you marry me?" I started squealing and crying and hugging him. It was absolutely perfect! I don't think I need to tell you what my answer was. :)

As we started planning the wedding, we knew we wanted to wait until the summer of 2009. This way we would both be out of college and hopefully both of us would be settled with jobs. Originally, we were going to get married in May of 2009, but upon looking we saw that our 3.5 year anniversary fell on a Saturday that year so we figured..how perfect! So here we are...booked for July 25, 2009!

We already have a lot of wedding plans started. Here's the list:
-Ceremony site booked (We start meetings and pay for the site in November)
-Reception site booked (We pay the deposit in July)
-Photographer booked
-Caterer picked (We can't book them until January)
-Cake baker booked
-Bridal party picked (my girls asked, the guys haven't been asked yet)
-Colors picked (Jon loves the bright blue PT Cruisers, so we chose that blue. Then I chose Palm Beach Coral for my girls and pale yellow for accents, such as flowers.)
-DJ picked (We're waiting to book him until July. He's DJ'ing our friends' wedding.)
-Random stuff bought that we picked up on sale (Flower girl basket, Ring pillow, guest book and pen, toasting flutes for our bridal party, throwing garter (.50! STEAL!), flower petals, mirrors, candles)

I think we're well on our way!!
